| Purpose: | To enable institutions to expand learning and enrichment opportunities for all people by supporting and sharing effective ideas and practices. The foundation aims to select and invest in innovation sites willing to test promising new approaches while commissioning and sharing independent research that could benefit the work in those sites as well as many others that are interested in pursuing similar changes.
Proposals will be selected for funding in the following three program categories:
Building Appreciation and Demand for the Arts: The primary goal of this program category is to promote effective and innovative ideas and practices that bring the benefits and pleasures of the arts to more people who might never otherwise experience them.
This program category supports activities to expand arts-learning opportunities in ways that many communities can use to give young people a lifelong appreciation of the arts; Education Leadership: The primary goal of this program category is to enhance student academic achievement by greatly improving the training of principals and superintendents and providing leaders with the policies, incentives, and job conditions they need to achieve the target goal on a wide scale; Out-Of-School Learning: The primary goal of this program category is to develop a successful system for out-of-school learning and improve the quality of existing opportunities for children and families. Supported projects must be designed to promote learning as a core community value.
