Total Amount:	Approximately $363 million in total funding has been allocated to new, re-competing, and continuation state and national awards for FY 2010. At least 15 percent of the funds will support applicants who have not received an AmeriCorps State or National operational grant in the last five years, including applicants that have only received a formula operational grant.

Purpose:	To support local organizations to meet the needs of the community in areas of the environment, senior independent living, public safety, homeland security, and other critical areas. The Fixed-Amount Pilot Grant component awards fixed-amount grants to programs that enroll full-time members only.The funding agency will make an effort to set aside at least 10 percent of the total funding and approved national service positions for applicants proposing to implement "encore service programs," which are programs that involve a significant number of participants age 55 or older. Grants are available in the following categories: Indian Tribes Program; Education Award Program; States and Territories Competetive Program; Fixed-Amount Pilot Grant; National Direct Program; States and Territories without Commissions; and National Professional Corps Program.
