| Total Amount: | There are matching fund requirements for this program. Applicants must provide a minimum 5 percent match in cash or in-kind contributions. Applicants may also be required to commit additional match funds for community and supportive services (CSS) activities, which are limited to up to 15 percent of award amount. If applicants use more than 5 percent of their award amount for CSS activities, then match funds equal to between 5 and 15 percent of the grant will be required. |

| Eligibility: | Eligible applicants include Public Housing Authorities designated as troubled with severely distressed public housing units. |

| Purpose: | To assist Public Housing Agencies (PHAs) with providing safe and secure housing for the homeless. The program focuses on housing that is severely distressed. The goals of the program include improving the living environment for public housing residents of severely distressed public housing projects through the demolition, rehabilitation, reconfiguration, or replacement of obsolete public housing projects; revitalizing sites where public housing projects are located; contributing to the improvement of the surrounding neighborhood; providing housing that will avoid or decrease the concentration of very low-income families; and building sustainable communities. Eligible activities funded by this program are:
-Relocation, including reasonable moving expenses for residents displaced as a result of the revitalization project
-Demolition of dwelling units and non-dwelling facilities
-Disposition of a severely distressed public housing site by sale or lease
-Rehabilitation and physical improvement of public housing and community facilities
-Development of public housing replacement units
-Assistance for creating homeowner units
-Acquisition for rental or development
-Necessary management improvements, including transitional security activities
-Reasonable costs for administration, planning, technical assistance, and fees and costs
-Community and Supportive Services (CSS).
