Eligibility:	Eligible applicants are state, local, and tribal governments with persistent high levels of serious and violent crimes. Faith-based or other community organizations eligible for Department of Justice programs can also apply.
Purpose:	To support a program which will prevent, control, and reduce violent crime, drug abuse, and gang activity. Part B is to provide support to communities so they may strengthen best practices via coordination and planning.

Preliminary Review Comments:
Draft Application materials must be sent to the applicant’s local U.S. Attorney by Tuesday, November 10, 2009, via e-mail. Registration with GMS is required prior to application submission. (See “Registration,” page 3.) The GMS registration deadline is 4:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time on Tuesday, December 1, 2009. All applications are due by 8:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time on Tuesday, December 1, 2009, via electronic submission through GMS.
